JUST ONE MORE QUESTION...
Cynthia MicKinney, Democratic Georgia Congresswoman, is a disgrace. Several days ago, she started battering a security officer inside the Capitol Dome in Washington, D.C. The officer's crime? He didn't recognize her as she was trying to pass through a security checkpoint. She wasn't wearing her member of Congress pin, and had recently underwent a substantial makeover that considerably altered her facial appearance.
This woman has played the race card so many times that one can identify it in a 12-pack deck standing face-down. Thus, when I first heard this story, I was 100% positive that she would say that the assault was justified because she was black. Sure enough, she gave a press conference the day after the incident (and the day after she was arrested for her actions), stating that "racism" motivated the officer's not giving her a license to freely roam the Capitol during this time of anthrax scares, bomb threats, and attempts to shoot members of Congress in their offices. At her speech, at her side, was Danny Glover, who, a few years ago, all of a sudden decided that it was his destiny to take up the plight of beleaguered black New Yorkers who could not hail a cab. Mr. Glover only felt compelled to do this when a cab driver evidently, in Glover's mind, refused to stop for him because he was black. Mr. Glover has been silent on the subject of why so many black cab drivers are terrified to pick up African-American males (and white males, Hispanic males, and Muslim males, for that manner) who look like they want to kill them.
McKinney claimed that her assault was not only justified because she was the victim of racism - she claimed that msyogyny and anti-Democratic sentiment also caused the officer to actually question her credentials, thereby necessitating her assault.
Come on, Cynthia. You don't want race and gender to be issues in this country anymore? Then stop gratuitously, disingenuously, hyperbolically, cynically, hypocritically, and unfairly, turning every incident that annoys you into a race incident.
Or in the words of John Aravosis:
"I'm sorry, but what a pitiful excuse for a Democrat. Yes, let's cry racism and sexism and Democratism, I guess you'd call it, because a cop didn't recognize you and you decided to not even wear your member of Congress pin, or turn around when the cop called out to you while we're at war. Next time, it'll be better if the cop lets strangers without their pins just barge into the halls of Congress, bypass security, and oh blow the hell out of the entire building because they're afraid the person they stop might be - what? - a Democrat?Like I said, the only thing more pathetic than McKinney is that NOW and the NAACP would lower themselves to attend this ridiculous farce of a press conference. Have they nothing better to do than pander to someone who belittles legitimate concerns about race and gender and political bias? Pathetic liberal groups, and pathetic Democratic members of Congress. Their funders should cut them all off until they prove the worth of their continued existence," - John Aravosis, liberal-left blogger.
It's well past time for baby bigot McKinney to discard her diaper and grow the hell up already. She has more in common with the right-wing bigot faction of the Republican party than either care to admit. As long as both exist, those who really care about getting past issues of race will be left out in the cold in the face of these bigots' heated bluster.
